Procedure for obtaining Centroid :
For simple areas like rectangle, triangle, semicircle, etc. We can easily find the Centroid using the formulae given in the table below :

For composite areas, which are a combination of two or more simple areas, the steps to find centroid
are as follows:
1)Divide the given shape into standard shape.
2)If the co-ordinate axes are given, locate it. If not given, then assume it at convenient
location.
3)Calculate Area and coordinate of the centroid of each individual part with reference to
coordinate axes.
4) The coordinates of the centroid can be calculated using:
